Must exist and cover 180 days of instruction per academic year (1 July - 30 June). Indiana expects 180 days of instruction in an academic year running 1 July to 30 June; days the child was enrolled in a public or accredited school count toward it (IC 20-33-2-20).

Not required. Explicitly optional. IDOE's own guidance states reporting is not legally required and non-reporting carries no penalty.

Its words: 'Registration as a homeschool family is not required in the state of Indiana' - it is offered and optional. IC 20-33-2-20 requires that attendance records be maintained, and parents 'should provide 180 days of instruction in an academic year, which runs from July 1 of a given year through June 30 of the following year', with days enrolled in a public or accredited school counting toward the 180. The 180-day expectation was NOT on this page before today.
