A student in a home education program will NOT be granted credits toward a PEI senior high graduation certificate. No penalty for failing to notify was found on the form or the department page.

Home Education Notice of Intent
Each school year (Education Act s.95(1)). Neither the Act nor the Home Education Regulations set a date, and none is printed on the form.

The notice is on the form the Minister approves, with your signed declaration that you acknowledge your responsibilities for the program (Education Act s.95(1)). The Home Education Regulations (s.2) say it includes the child's name and date of birth; the parent's name, address and telephone number; and the last school the child attended, if any. The parent's responsibility is to ensure, to the best of their ability, that the child has an opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop skills that will prepare the child for life as an adult (Regulations s.3). Submit by mail, email (homeeducation@gov.pe.ca) or fax (902-438-4884), as the form says.
